Basement Wet Bar
This week’s addition to our house: a wet bar to go along with our hot tub and pool.

Welcome to the Weekly Quick Hits Roundup! Every week I write a weekly wrap-up of things that were going on here at Young Adult Money, a few personal updates/thoughts, and finally a few posts I read this week that I thought were worth sharing.

We also have our giveaway roundup every Friday. This Friday there are over 200 giveaways listed that end today through next Thursday, as well as two giveaways we are co-hosting that are worth a combined $1,000+.

Below are the posts from Monday through Thursday:

  • On Monday I shared in Tips on Dealing with a Difficult Manager. There’s no such thing as a perfect manager; every manager will have at least one flaw or shortcoming. The key is figuring out how to “make it work” and make the best of any situation.
  • On Tuesday I wrote about The Danger of Making Money your Top Priority. I discuss treating money as a means and not an end in itself, charitable giving, and making the most of your situation today.
  • On Wednesday our staff writer Cat shared her thoughts on money and happiness in I’m Pretty Sure Money Can Buy You Happiness. In the post, she shares an encouraging story of how quickly financial situations can change.
  • On Thursday I shared 3 blogging tips and helped Michelle of Making Sense of Cents celebrate her two-year anniversary by co-hosting a giveaway with her in 3 Blogging Tips and an iPad Mini WIFI and $250 Cash Giveaway Gotta love giveaways ;)

I have just a couple of updates to share:

  • Rental Unit Complete! – After an exhausting week of working on our rental unit, we finished late last night, just in time for our renter to start her lease today. I’m definitely thankful that my wife’s brother-in-law was able to help us with tile, trim, and a light fixture that wasn’t cooperating. It’s definitely nice to have a renter locked in for the next year, as well as put some time, effort, and $ into the rental unit.
  • Site Redesign – See above – too busy to even go through the contract…though I put it on my “to do” list for this weekend.
  • Weekend – I took this week one day at a time and haven’t thought much about the weekend. I definitely need to relax some, and plan on spending time with friends on Saturday night. But I’m really just excited to SLEEP.

Finally, here are five posts that I really enjoyed from this week:

  • Holly from Club Thrifty talks about the not-so-fun side of owning rental properties in Being a Landlord: It’s Not All Puppies and Cupcakes.
  • Cat from Budget Blonde has her husband share about his recent trip to India in How To Travel In India: Tips From My Husband.
  • Rita from Digital Spikes talks about kids and money in Teaching kids about money : saving tips.
  • Monica from Monica on Money answers an important question in Debt collectors: What can defend you from their harassments?.
  • Matt from Mom and Dad Money talks about the cost of having a baby in The Mythical $12,000 Baby.

How was your week? What are your plans for the weekend? Anyone else plan on catching up on sleep?
