Entertainment doesn’t have to be expensive. Sure, there are plenty of $80 concerts you can go to or $100 tickets to your favorite sport’s team, but there are alternatives.

Today I have 8 surprisingly inexpensive entertainment ideas for you. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to be entertained!

1) Going to the Movies

The movies are notorious for being an expensive source of entertainment, but they don’t have to be. Go to movies during the day or on weeknights when they are discounted.

2) Playing Bingo

If you haven’t played bingo before, you may be surprised to find out just how cheap it is. Bingo Halls sometimes charge as little as $7 for over an hours-worth of Bingo. There are also easy ways to save money playing online bingo. Don’t forget – you might even leave with more money than you came with!

3) Watching Sports

Instead of spending money on tickets, concessions, and parking, consider either watching sports at home or a friends house. Local bars and restaurants are good options as well, since many have deals and specials during sports games.

4) Poker

Poker doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Consider getting some buddies together to play tournaments at home where the buy-in is as low as $1. You don’t have to have a lot of money on the line to have fun. You can still have a lot of fun playing poker and hanging out.

5) Travel

You may be surprised to find out that travel can be relatively inexpensive. You can try creative ways to fund travel such as winning a giveaway (I won two trip giveaways this year alone – including Hawaii!) or churning credit cards.

6) Going out Dancing

Many bars and clubs downtown don’t charge admission. The drinks may be expensive, but if you limit yourself to one or don’t drink at all it can be an unexpectedly inexpensive night of entertainment.

7) Computer Games

Sure there are many computer games that will cost you money to play – not to mention the fact that you have to have a good computer to make it work. There are lots of free computer games, though, and even ones that can give you free hotels and buffets in Vegas.

8) Weddings

As long as you don’t have to go to an out-of-town wedding and pay for a hotel, weddings can be relatively cheap entertainment. Sure, you have to get a gift for the couple, but the food, drinks, and entertainment you get in return costs you little or nothing.

I’m a horrible dancer so dancing wouldn’t work for me. :) I love watching football and you’re right it does save money. I never considered Bingo so it may be something I should look into.
