Increasing your income can drastically improve your finances. Here are 10 ways you can start making more money today. How different would your financial situation look if you had just $100 more a month? What about $500? Or even $1,000?

Making more money is one of the fastest ways to transform your finances. Whether you’re in the process of paying off debt, saving for a house, or starting an emergency fund, making more money can help you achieve your goals quickly. Check out these 10 ways to start making more money today.

1) Leverage Your Current Job

Before you dive straight into side hustling, consider if you can earn more money at your current job.

Are there steps you could be taking to earn a raise or a promotion? What about taking on additional work to receive overtime pay?

Side hustles definitely have their place, but if you’re spending 40 or so hours a week at a job, you might as well leverage it to earn as much money as possible.

2) Find a Higher Paying Job

No room for advancement at your current job? Then it may be time to consider finding another job opportunity.

Job hopping gets a bad reputation, but in many cases, it’s the best thing you can do for yourself. If your current job isn’t challenging you, providing for you financially, or offering you any room for advancement, staying there could actually be a disservice to yourself.

3) Become a Caretaker

One way to earn extra cash around your schedule is to become a caretaker. As a caretaker, you help other people by babysitting their children, watching their pets, or house sitting their property.

Caretakers can earn a pretty penny for their services, and the work is relatively easy to come by. You can either advertise your services to people you know, or sign up for websites such as Care.com or Rover.com to find work in your area.

4) Sell Homemade Items

Have a knack for crafting? You can earn money selling your homemade items.

In the past, people had to rely on art fairs and networking to find buyers for their products. Nowadays, you can sell almost anything online through sites like Etsy, and ship it to anyone in the world.

5) Become a Virtual Assistant

If you love to help companies from behind the scenes, then working as a virtual assistant could be right up your ally.

Virtual assistants handle any administrative needs of a company, except they work completely remote. This is ideal for anyone who is looking for either side hustle or full-time work.

Plenty of companies directly hire virtual assistants. You can also work for a company that offers virtual assistant services, such as FancyHands. Or, you can go out on your own and find your own clients.

6) Start a Blog

Blogging is one of our favorite ways to earn extra money. With a blog, you can write about the topics you are most passionate about and earn money doing so.

To start a blog, all you need is a computer, a website, and commitment.

7) Become a Freelance Writer

Right after I started a blog, I found freelancing gigs helping other bloggers create content for their sites. After freelance writing for several years as a side hustle, it grew enough for me to turn into my full-time job. From my experience, freelance writing is one of the fastest ways to earn money in your spare time.

8) List Your Space

Have extra space in your home? List it to earn extra cash.

Whether you have an extra house, bedroom, or just a couch, you can list your space on sites like Airbnb. You can host travelers for a period of time. All you have to do is ensure a safe, clean place for them to sleep.

9) Get Cash Back

We all have to make purchases from time to time. So when you do have to buy something, make sure you are receiving cash back on your purchases.

Ebates is one of the best online cash back sites. With Ebates, you simply login and can view cash back offers from thousands of retailers, including Kohl’s, Amazon, Target, and more. To learn more about Ebates, read our full review here.

10) Take Surveys

Did you know you can earn money while watching television?

You can take surveys online and earn money for giving your opinion. While surveys won’t likely make you rich, they are a great way to earn a little extra cash in your free time.

There are some solid items on this list. I began using ebates earlier this year. I’m satisfied with their services. I’ve been able to get a couple of cash back deposits from them.

I just started using ebates this year as well. It truly is easy, and I have a few bucks already saved up, which I think is good for someone who doesn’t online shop much!
