Rainbow Falls HawaiiThe pic of the week is Rainbow Falls in Hawaii.

Welcome to the Weekly Quick Hits Roundup!

If you’re new here, every week I write a weekly wrap-up of things that were going on here at Young Adult Money, a few personal updates/thoughts, and finally a few posts I read this week that I thought were worth sharing.

If you don’t already, please considering Following us on Twitter, Liking us on Facebook, and Following us on Pinterest.

We also have our giveaway roundup every Friday. This Friday there are 105 giveaways listed this week that end today (9/19) through next Thursday (9/25).
_____________________________________________________________________

Happy Friday everyone!

This week was my wife and my third wedding anniversary. Feels like just yesterday.

Wedding Day 3

This is my favorite pic from our wedding. Most people can’t believe that this photo was taken in a park located in a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul. We had an amazing photographer who caught hundreds and hundreds of quality shots from the day (Dana J Photography).

It really makes me think about time and how quickly it passes. Three years of marriage, two years of owning a house, and over four years working at my current employer. Heck, I’m almost due for the 5-year (and only) bump in PTO days (5 more).

Hard to believe that my blog is over two years old now as well.

It’s easy to keep looking towards the next thing in life. I think everyone has trouble “enjoying the moment.” We need to do more of that! Life is going to have challenges, yes, but it’s important to remember to enjoy the journey.

Below are the posts we published this week:

  • On Monday I asked Am I Being Frugal or Cheap?.
  • On Tuesday I asked Is Swagbucks Stupid?.
  • On Wednesday Cat asked Who Wears the Budgeting Pants in Your House?

Posts of the Week:

As usual, here are 5 posts that I enjoyed this week from around the blogosphere.

Want to be featured? I pick blogs that comment on the site regularly, so stop by and leave a comment!

  • Shannon from Financially Blonde talked about being Not Like the Others
  • Kim from Eyes on the Dollar discussed Retiring on Social Security
  • Natalie from The Finance Girl shared a shocking revelation in I’m 28, and I’ve Never Had a Credit Card. Ever.
  • Shannon from The Heavy Purse explained How To Find Your Money Balance
  • SYED from The Broke Professional talked about Football and Your Finances

____________

Do you ever feel like you are moving so quickly through life that you forget to enjoy the journey? What “milestones” have you celebrated recently? What do you have going on this weekend?

Happy Anniversary to you and Victoria!!! I love that pic of the two of you! It is amazing how times flies. We are coming up on our 11th wedding anniversary and I have no idea where time has gone. Thanks for highlighting my post this week! I have been in NOLA since Tuesday and I will be here through Sunday. So far, very fun, but very exhausting. Have a great weekend!

Happy Anniversary!  My wife and I just celebrated our 6 year anniversary last week.  Time does fly, and you’re right…you really need to enjoy the journey.  I’m always looking ahead and forget to enjoy the present.

Thank you so much for the mention, DC! I really enjoyed writing that article, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Also, happy wedding anniversary! That photo is beautiful! Your questions at the bottom of today’s post really hit home for me, too. I definitely am guilty of moving quickly through life, where I forget to enjoy the little things. I’m going to try to remember that this weekend. Have a great weekend!

Congrats on your anniversary DC!  It’s always a great opportunity to reflect on your relationship and life together! Like two other commenters below, we’ve just recently celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary – you just have to make every single one of them special!

Congrats on your anniversary! Lovely pic.  Black and white photography is great.  We just celebrated our 12th year and time does fly by but I think the past few years we’ve really concentrated more on enjoying the moments.  It’s important to do so as you said.

  24. DC @ Young Adult Money says

Practical Cents Thanks!  That’s great you’ve been focusing on enjoying the moments.  It’s definitely something that I need to work on.
